Green Schools

Since Braywick Court School opened in 2014, we have aimed to enhance teaching and learning by incorporating outdoor lessons whenever possible.

Our pupils are fortunate to attend a school located in a beautiful nature reserve, where they can enjoy this beautiful setting daily. We strive to instill a love for the natural world in our students, fostering a sense of responsibility for their local environment. Our goal is to inspire them to become conservationists, protectors, and advocates for the green spaces around them.

Working with Braywick Nature Centre

We have partnered with Braywick Nature Centre to offer a formal Green Schools program. Together, we have created a schedule that integrates seamlessly with our school’s teaching and learning, complementing subjects like Maths, English, Science, and PSHE.

Each class participates in expert-led sessions with Rangers throughout the year, in addition to teacher-led sessions in the outdoor classroom within the nature reserve. These dedicated sessions supplement the regular, informal Green Schools activities that our pupils engage in across the curriculum.

Our Green Schools curriculum is carefully planned alongside our science curriculum, leveraging the expertise of both Rangers and teachers. This approach ensures that every child experiences a wide range of Green Schools activities throughout their journey from EYFS to Year 6 and beyond.
